Retro-gaming fanatics have five more reasons to be happy this week with the release of several classic titles on the Wii Virtual Console.
Namco’s Pac-Man returns in Pac-Attack, which casts the familiar yellow character in a fast-moving Tetris clone where he must clear the screen by lining up and eating ghosts. Originally released for the Nintendo SNES in 1993, Pac-Attack will set you back just 800 points.
Also available for 800 points is Mega Drive game Super Fantasy Zone, a free-roaming 2D shooter. Help Opa-Opa destroy the evil Menon’s by blowing up the generators in each level, and earn coins to upgrade your gear so you can face up to the end-of-level bosses.
Meanwhile, fighting fans can get their teeth into King of Monsters, the 1991 NEOGEO brawler featuring gigantic apes, dinosaurs and other beasts battling it out in cities as the terrified population run for cover. Get up close and personal with fists and claws or pummel your opponent into submission with a skyscraper! King of Monsters is available now for 900 points.
For those running low on Wii points we also have two Commodore 64 games at just 500 points each. In Cybernoid sneaky space pirates have stolen your precious cargo, so you’ve got to use your wits and plenty of guns to retrieve the valuables. And just in time for this year’s Olympics is Summer Games 2, a sports title for the nimble-fingered featuring eight competitive events including cycling, fencing and kayaking.
Activision announced that it has signed a distribution deal with System 3 which will see the world’s largest third-party publisher release the forthcoming Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli throughout the world. more...
