Nintendo has announced a new Wii game which simulates being a member of a band.
Unlike competing titles such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero, the new Wii Music makes use of existing Wii controllers and peripherals to simulate over 60 different instruments. You could use the Wii remote to play the violin, or hold it like a saxophone, and drumming will be simulated using the Wii Fit balance board.
While other music games have you pressing buttons to match the on-screen instructions and score points, Wii Music players move to their own beat and the game generates the notes to match your actions.
Wii Music isn’t the only new title on the way for Nintendo’s Wii Console. The company also unveiled its own snowboarding game that makes use of the Wii Fit Balance Board, much like Family Ski, and also revealed that it was working on a new Wii Sports title.
Wii Sports is bundled with every Wii and simulates a variety of games like baseball and tennis. The new Wii Sports Resort features beach-based games – with Frisbee, fencing and jet skiing shown so far – and will be bundled with the new MotionSense Plus, an addon which massively increases the sensitivity and accuracy of the Wii controllers for even more realistic gaming.
Wii Music is due to go on sale at Christmas, while Wii Sports Resort will be available Spring 2009.
