Ghost Squad
Ghost Squad is an old-fashioned on-rails shooter. Sit back with your Wii remote, relax and just let the game guide you through the environments while you blast away at everything that moves. Simple and straightforward.
Like the House of Dead 2 & 3 collection, Sega has got the shooting absolutely spot on. The Wii console controls translate perfectly even if you’re not using the light gun accessory (a plastic frame with handle that allows you to wave the Wii remote around like a gun), its pixel-perfect accuracy making the action incredibly satisfying.
The plot is the usual nonsense: elite military squad, evil baddies, and so on. It’s just an excuse to stomp through the levels blasting away at bad guys and destructible scenery. Ghost Squad has some variety with its weapons, there are 25 guns in total with various pistols, shotguns and machine guns, and each has a different type of shot mode (single, burst, automatic).

These guns aren’t available right at the start; you have to unlock them by playing the levels over and over. On the upside it doesn’t take long since there are only three and they last about ten minutes each, but on the downside, there are only three and they last about ten minutes each. The game is incredibly short if you don’t feel like repeating it to unlock the extras, which makes it a very hard sell at the retail price.
Verdict
Fun, but you can finish the game in half an hour. It’s far too expensive for what it is and would have been more palatable as a budget download.
