Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic are joining forces to star in “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games”, marking the first time these two popular stars have appeared together in a game.

Featuring an all-star cast of characters from the exciting worlds of both Nintendo and Sega, players will be able to compete as or against a range of familiar characters including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Amy, Tails, Princess Peach, Bowser, Dr. Eggman, Daisy, Blaze, Shadow and Vector. You can also take your very own Mii into the axction and compete alongside your favourite character from Team Mario and Team Sonic.

Innovative usage of the Wii remote and Wii Nunchuk to maneuver your favourite character allow you  and up to three of your friends to race your chosen character down the 100m track or leap over the high jump whilst  competing for the much sought after gold medal.

You can compete in stylized Olympic venues based on the official venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic games with authentic sports and events including aquatics, fencing, trampoline, vault, rowing, archery, skeet shooting, table tennis and  athletics such as 100m, 400m 4 x 100m relay, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, hammer throw and javelin throw.

Try out each event individually in Single Match Mode, take on challenges created specifically for each character in Mission Mode or compete for the highest overall score in Circuit Mode.

Unlock special Dream Events featuring environments, objects and power-ups from the video game worlds of Nintendo and Sega.

Developed by Sega and overseen by Nintendo creator Shigeru Miyamoto, “Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games” is everything you expect from a meeting of the most popular video game characters of all time.

Final verdict: One of the best athletic games for the Nintendo Wii console ever. Excellent graphics.  Big fun for the whole family.  Be warned, aching arms are unavoidable.
