We Love Golf

Despite all the sports games available on the Wii there are few better than the basic mini-games found in Wii Sports, the free package included with the Wii itself. None of them have much in the way of depth, but they are entertaining when played with friends.

We Love Golf is an attempt at bringing a more in-depth golf game to the Wii and has been developed by a company with a very long history of producing excellent golf games.

You are encouraged, of course, to swing the controller like a real golf club. This is done while pressing the A button, and the game measures the rotation of your ‘club’ and translates it to the game. You also have to time your swing with a ‘ghost’ club shown on screen.

It sounds complex, but in actual fact it’s fairly easy to get the hang of and once you’ve mastered it you can pull of some clever shots. The real problem is the game doesn’t want to trust you. You’re given so much help when taking a shot that it may as well swing the club for you too.

This makes the game incredibly easy and offers little challenge even on the tougher courses.

Cute visuals and a nice control system but We Love Golf is too concerned with helping the player make the perfect shot that it removes any challenge.
